Victoria and Phil’s Story

Amazing. That’s my verdict on The Woodlands hotel in Leeds – my first visit for Victoria and Phil’s wedding. A superb wedding venue and one I’d love to be going back to. There’s a lot to like, some wonderful grounds which we didn’t get to explore to far with it being extremely cold but my, what a view of the building you get from the garden! A perfect backdrop for your wedding images. The orangery, which was the icing on the cake for Victoria and Phil is simply fantastic. Full of light during the day and beautifully lit during the evening. The staff are simply fantastic too. Very attentive, and friendly. Woodlands Hotel Gildersome is a modern boutique hotel in Leeds.

They chose the date for a Christmas wedding as it’s a real feel-good time of the year for people and went for a white colour scheme as they believe it looks beautiful and suits the winter season. And who’s to argue, it looked stunning.

They chose lots of white roses with green foliage along with lots of floating candles from Paul Martin Planters & Bouquets. Paul and his team created a simply stunning arrangement for the ceremony and then for the turnaround, the wedding breakfast it was equally amazing.

On arrival, hairstyling was being taken care of by Terri Georgina and makeup was being done by themselves.

Cheryl Bottomley created a stunning 3 tier chocolate / cookies & creme cake, with white/gold colouring. The topper was a silhouette which included their dog, Millie.

During the day and into the evening Leon Marshall was on hand with his guitar playing lots of amazing music in his own style. At one point I could hear the guests singing along whilst I was outside with the couple doing their portraits: Superb!

In between the wedding breakfast courses Michael & Adam, the Undercover Waiters surprised guests with a little story of Adam being picked for an episode of the voice and asking if he could sing to the guests. It went down really well but after that it was insane. Interaction with guests was out of this world. Lots of classic songs, dancing from guests, simply magnificent.

Johnathan of Prime Event Hire brought in the evening party and wow, the dancefloor was never, ever empty. He played lots of tracks that kept the dancefloor buzzing. It helps when couples not just provide music tracks but tell the DJ the type of music that friends and family really like and also encourage requests.

A hugely magnificent wedding day: thanks Victoria and Phil for having me and thank you to Charlotte, Abbigail and all the lovely staff at the Woodlands Hotel.

A further thanks goes to Kev of Kev Jacutan who was the fantastic videographer who I worked with all day.
