Jodi and Jack where married at St. Peter and St. Paul’s church in my home town of Rishton, with their reception following at the beautiful Astley Bank Hotel, Darwen.
Astley Bank is a 19th century manor house which retains some lovely period features, colourful stained glass windows along with a rather grand staircase and is now run as a hotel by Nigel and Helen Ainscow. It has developed a great reputation for both the quality of the food and the service. A number of guests did mention that the wedding breakfast was among the very best! A great accolade!
I started my day by meeting Jodi and Elise her daughter, as they were getting ready with hair stylist Gemma Brown and makeup artist Rebecca Brown and managed to catch some behind the scenes shots before the vintage red double decker bus arrived to take everyone to the church. Before I left, the bridesmaids all arrived to help Jodi get into her gorgeous Rossella by Ronald Joyce dress from Anne Whittaker Bridal Wear. Jack’s suit along with the groomsmen were from Menswear at Amelia’s Bridal Boutique. Also to arrive was a stunning bouquet of flowers from Garland’s florist. Jodi had used her Mum’s bracelet as something old to decorate the bouquet. A nice touch.
St. Peter and St. Paul’s is a lovely old church and is run by Father Michael, a good old fashioned vicar, who has all the time in the world for you. After the ceremony we spent some time shower dodging, back in the church for some shots and back out again when the rain stopped!
The sun was shining though when we got to Astley Bank and everyone was in the mood for some fun, it meant we could get a whole range of family group shots, beautiful detail shots, some lovely shots of the newly married couple around the grounds and then lots of laughter and atmosphere of the party afterwards!
