Peruga at Woodheys
Ange and Dave
Planning your wedding is no easy task. From choosing your venue, your dress, the suits, who will be bridesmaids, best man, the cake, will it be chicken or beef, all way right down to the little details of which font will go onto the place cards for the table plan!
I like to send out a few questions to my brides and grooms about a month before the big day to get to know them a little and to find out which lovely suppliers they’ve asked to help make their day so special.
Ange and Dave got married at Peruga at Woodheys. Such a fabulous little venue perfect for those intimate weddings. This was a day filled with many happy moments, fun and lots and lots laughter. Here are the details of planning and suppliers that made their day so special.
Where and when did you get engaged? Tell me what happened?
Holcomb Hill, Bury. New Year’s Day 2014. It was where we had our 1st date 9 months earlier, after meeting via Match.com in march 2013. My engagement ring is made from Blue John mineral, only mined in Castleton in Derbyshire where we live now – so that both Lancashire and Derbyshire will always have special meaning to us – wherever life might take us.
Why did you choose your wedding date?
It was closest to my 50th birthday.
Why did you choose your venue?
It was local to us, good food, and a great reputation for wedding planning. They know their stuff, nothing is too much trouble. Great views too.
Do you have a special “theme”/ style for your wedding? Why did you pick this theme/ style?
Daisies – I’ve just always loved them!
What is your wedding colour scheme? Why did you choose it?
Lemon and daisies – just so pretty
What sort of dress/outfit did you choose and where from? Why did you choose it?
Straight fitted lace with a small train from Wed2Be in Bolton. Classic, understated and timeless.
What has your partner chosen to wear?
Morning suit in dark grey with lemon cravat to match the bridesmaids
What are your bridesmaids/ groomsmen going to wear and where from?
Lemon chiffon dresses from Eloise’s Secret Closet online.
How will you travel on the day? If the transport is hired, where is it from?
A Merc S500 for me and Dave had the best mans Aston Martin 1979 V8
What flowers have you chosen, if any? Who is providing them?
Bouquets of lemon/white roses, feverfew daisies and wild herbs with a little lavender for ‘something blue’. They smelled gorgeous too! From Sandra’s florist in Glossop
What flowers and decorations have you chosen for the wedding reception? Who is providing them or helping you?
Lemon roses and lisianthus – arranged by Mum and myself.
Are you giving out favours? If so, what?
.Hersheys kisses and ‘forget-me-not’ seeds. With silver chocolate hearts.
What cake have you chosen? Who is making it?
I made our cake – fruit cake and vanilla Madeira 3 tier with lemon icing and hand made Daisy’s and silver ribbons.
Who have you chosen for beauty (Makeup and Hair)
What food/ wines have you choose? Why?
Soup or pate to start, traditional roast beef or chicken supreme for main course, choc brownie or creams brûlée for dessert. Tried to cater for most tastes while staying very traditional. Hot roast buffet for evening guests with choice of 3 roasts. We know that Peruga’s have a great chef – so we knew whatever we chose, it would be amazing.
What entertainment have you choose and who are they?
Dave’s own band ‘Snatch’ played as a wedding gift for us, on the condition that I get to dance the last dance with my husband rather than just watching him play it as usual!!!
What other “special touches” have you added to your day?
Eleanor Hudson played harp during the day – a break from her day job at the Halle Orchestra. Our drummer read the reading during the ceremony – Dave’s known him since they were teenagers.
Anything else I should know?
Dave’s oldest friend flew over from Canada especially and my aunty’s came from Geneva and Perth (only Scotland, not Australia!) my bridesmaids were my 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters.
