A beautiful rustic wedding at Holmes Mill

Clare and Andy; Their Story.

Peruga at Woodheys

Planning your wedding is no easy task. From choosing your venue, your dress, the suits, who will be bridesmaids, best man, the cake, will it be chicken or beef, all way right down to the little details of which font will go onto the place cards for the table plan!

I like to send out a few questions to my brides and grooms about a month before the big day to get to know them a little and to find out which lovely suppliers they’ve asked to help make their day so special.

Clare and Andy tied the knot at the former textile spinning mill in the heart of Clitheroe. An amazing place, full of history and intrigue. I am into history and architecture but I won’t ramble on here, so if you want to know a little more, I’ve linked to Holmes Mill and it’s history at the bottom.

A truly fabulous day, filled with so many happy moments, fun with lots and lots of laughter.

Here are the details of planning and suppliers that made their day so special.

Where and when did you get engaged?

In Iceland at 1am under the Northern lights. Andy planned the whole thing I had no idea. He even got it filmed! It was so cold so when he took my gloves off I thought he’d gone crazy. He gave me an engraved pebble (there’s a story behind that) and wrote me a poem. After he finished the poem he dropped to one knee.

Why did you choose your wedding date?

Spring weddings are lovely.

Why did you choose your venue?

It’s amazing, everything we wanted in one place. Very rustic and industrial.

What is your wedding colour scheme?

Aqua and peach. Andy favourite colour is aqua and the peach matches it perfect.

What sort of dress/outfit did you choose and where from?

My dress is from bridal lounge of Accrington. I tried on a lot of dresses at different places and this one made me cry.

What has your partner chosen to wear and where from?

Andys suits are from Bridgewater mens wear in Colne. They are Marc D’Arcy suits.

What are your bridesmaids/ groomsmen going to wear and where from?

Andys grooms men all have the same as Andy and my bridesmaids have been made for us.

Who have you chosen for beauty (Makeup and Hair)

Rebecca Brown for make up

Sam Gateley and Rebecca Wade of Phaze 1 hair

How will you travel on the day? If the transport is hired, where is it from?

Staying at the venue.

What flowers have you chosen, if any? Who is providing them?

Bond and bloom in Lytham. Non structured sprays of white peach and foliage.

What flowers and decorations have you chosen for the wedding reception? Who is providing them or helping you?

We have chosen to be more personal with the tables. We have a selection of gin and rum bottles for the tables. And lanterns. The vases we are using are all the vases from the flowers Andy has bought t me over the years.

Are you giving out favours? If so, what?

We have made a donation to Cancer research for each guest and everyone has a cancer pin. Ladies cancers, male cancers and children’s cancers.

What cake have you chosen? Who is making it?

The wedding company by e-bella. We have 3 tiers. 1st lemon and blueberry 2nd salted caramel and sticky toffee 3rd Raspberry ripple.

What entertainment have you choose and who are they?

The dead beats. Crazy party band!

What other “special touches” have you added to your day?

We made our own guest signing board from pallets.

Anything else I should know?

We were childhood sweethearts.

Just as an addition, which was a last minute change, Clare and her bridal party started their day at the wonderful Sparth House Hotel. Thanks to Olivia and the team for making everyone feel so welcome particularly with the last minute change of plans.
