Planning your wedding is no easy task. From choosing your venue, your dress, the suits, who will be bridesmaids, best man, the cake, will it be chicken or beef, all way right down to the little details of which font will go onto the place cards for the table plan!

I like to send out a few questions to my brides and grooms about a month before the big day to get to know them a little and to find out which lovely suppliers they’ve asked to help make their day so special.

Lyndsey and Ashley tied the knot at the most beautiful of places, Broadoaks Country House in Troutbeck, Cumbria on a sun-baked September afternoon.

It’s a venue I love going to. There are lots of features including a swing for two people outside, gardens, a fountain, stunning views and a beautiful window in the sitting room along with a piano.

The site dates back to the mid 19th century but was added to in the late 19th by Dr Charles and Fanny Hodges. It was built for a rich military man to reside during his summer breaks and was approximately resided in for six weeks of the year in its first forty years of life. It was sold in the late 1890’s to Dr Charles and Fanny Hodges. They gave the house a new lease of life by building the music room with its acoustic barrel vaulted ceiling and delicate plaster relief work designed by William Morris. This is where the original Bechstein Grand Piano purchased by Charles Hodges sits today having been recovered from Leeds in 1993.

This was a day filled with so many happy moments, fun with lots and lots of laughter.
