A Saturday Afternoon Wedding in Didsbury

Alison and Daniel; Their Story.

Peruga at Woodheys

Planning your wedding is no easy task. From choosing your venue, your dress, the suits, who will be bridesmaids, best man, the cake, will it be chicken or beef, all way right down to the little details of which font will go onto the place cards for the table plan!

I like to send out a few questions to my brides and grooms about a month before the big day to get to know them a little and to find out which lovely suppliers they’ve asked to help make their day so special.

Alison and Dan tied the knot at the historic Didsbury Parsonage before celebrating with family and friends at the local Didsbury Sports Ground.

Alison started the day with her closest friends at Eleven Didsbury Park, a rather splendid Victorian townhouse hotel before arriving at  Didsbury Parsonage for a wonderful ceremony and drinks reception. A short walk later through stunning gardens and amazing scenery the newly married couple arrived at Didsbury Sports Ground bar and lounge to celebrate into the night.

A truly fabulous day, filled with so many happy moments, fun with lots and lots of laughter.

Here are the details of planning and suppliers that made their day so special.

Where and when did you get engaged?

In London on the eve of the Brexit referendum. We went to a gig (Belle and Sebastian – Alison’s fave) and then Dan proposed later that evening. He planned a cute little story which I was only given parts to a few months before. In that eve he gave me the last bit which was the proposal.

Why did you choose your wedding date?

We wanted May 4th (starwars day) but couldn’t because there’s a sculpture exhibit that date at the venue, so went for the following week.

Why did you choose your venue?

It’s a really cute place in our home town we love to visit.

Do you have a special “theme”/ style for your wedding? Why did you pick this theme/ style?

Festival, rustic, anything goes. We love flowers and being creative so wanted a DIY hippy style wedding

What is your wedding colour scheme?

No particular scheme. The bridesmaids have chosen their own colour dresses which is a dusky pink

What sort of dress/outfit did you choose and where from?

Alison has two dresses, both quite simple but elegant from ASOS and Dan’s suit is Ted Baker but neither know what the others are like.

What are your bridesmaids/ groomsmen going to wear and where from?

They have chosen their own outfits, all are going to be a surprise on the day.

Who have you chosen for beauty (Makeup and Hair)

Make me up Ltd for hair

Nicola Conroy Makeup

How will you travel on the day? If the transport is hired, where is it from?

Our friend Michul will be driving Alison and Dan’s brother will take Dan. We haven’t hired a car.

What flowers have you chosen, if any? Who is providing them?

Wildflowers, all sorts of colours and varieties. We are doing our own flowers

What flowers and decorations have you chosen for the wedding reception? Who is providing them or helping you?

As above – I’ve made all decs myself.

Are you giving out favours? If so, what?

Yes, Alison has done individual paintings of everyone.

What cake have you chosen? Who is making it?

Flossy cakes three tiers with succulent decordations.

What food/ wines have you choose? Why?

We are having nibbles and prosecco after the ceremony then street style food later on. We wanted something fun and less formal.

What other “special touches” have you added to your day?

We will be having games and fun activities in the evening for kids and adults. We have also asked guests in the day to bring potted plants for a fun photo op.
